The House That She Built

The House That She Built children’s book aims to bring awareness to the many exciting careers in construction. Written by Group Two Owner & President Mollie Elkman and illustrated by Group Two Creative Director Georgia Castellano, the book has the goal of bridging the gap in the skilled labor shortage by educating children to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, mathematics/applied mathematics) and construction careers, and inspiring diversity & inclusion in the industry. You can purchase your copy here.

The book was inspired by the team of real women who came together from around the country to build a one-of-a-kind home in Utah: The House that SHE Built. Group Two participated in the project by creating the overall branding and marketing for the project, which helped secure donations, labor and media coverage. Mollie and Georgia were so inspired by the mission that they created this book to be able to continue sharing this important story long after the home was completed and sold.

Group Two created all of the marketing — including merchandise and a dedicated website — for the book, gaining the support of Andersen Windows & Doors and 84 Lumber, picking up news coverage by NBC, CBS, WHYY, and making The House That She Built the best selling book in NAHB BuilderBooks history. Proceeds of the book to support skilled workforce development and diversity and inclusion in the construction industry.

To accompany the book, the Coloring & Activity Book, also created by Mollie and Georgia, is available as the perfect accompaniment.

Group Two is proud that this book will inspire young readers to consider the trades as a career path and excited to continue the conversation that careers in construction build the future.
